    Influence of Anvil Wear on Charpy Impact Test Results

    • In order to analyze the influence of the anvil wear on the impact absorbed energy, the impact test was carried out on the arc notched standard specimens with super high, high and medium energy levels by using the severely worn anvil and the intact new anvil, respectively. And the force-impact absorbed energy-time curves and the macroscopic morphology of the specimens obtained by new and worn anvils were compared and analyzed. The results show that the impact test with a severely worn anvil will generate additional friction work during the test and result in a higher impact absorbed energy. And the higher the energy level of the specimens is, the greater the influence of the anvil wear is.
