Single Sheet Testing Method of Oriented Electrical Steels

Abstract
The origin and differences of two single sheet testing methods for oriented electrical steels were studied. It is proposed that the H-coil method which directly senses the magnetic field strength of the sample is a reliable alternative method because it avoids the influence of the effective magnetic circuit length. The comparison test results show that the magnetic properties such as specific total loss and specific apparent power measured by H-coil method are significantly lower than those measured by SST (92) method recommended in GB/T 13789-2008, and the measurement deviation between these two methods is significantly related to the sample material, thickness and measurement conditions. Normally, under the condition of power frequency and magnetic polarization of 1.5~1.7 T, the specific total loss measured by H-coil method is lower than that measured by SST (92) method by 5%~8%, and the specific apparent power is lower by 10%~20%.
