Abstract
The viscosity of the mold casting powders is one of the important physical indicators for evaluating the quality of the casting powders. Accurately evaluating the viscosity of the mold casting powders is of great significance in selecting and using mold casting powders during continuous casting production. For the situation of a company using a wide variety of mold casting powders and they performing differently in viscosity testing, some control experiences in the viscosity testing of mold casting powders were introduced from the aspects of charcoal burning, instrument coefficient calibration, temperature control, control of depth of the molten casting powders and insertion depth of probe and so on. The results show that different mold casting powders should perform different charcoal burning temperature, stirring frequency and total charcoal burning time. The depth of the molten casting powders should be controlled at about 50 mm and the insertion depth of probe should be controlled at 12 mm.
