Development and Application of the Tension Fixture for Metal Wires

Tensile testing of metal wires is an important part of mechanical property tests for metal wire materials. At present, the lack of effective fixture and individualized experimental scheme makes the detection of tensile properties of metal wires become a difficult point. According to the structural characteristics of metal wires, a special tension fixture for metal wires was designed. This fixture could be applied to metal wires with the diameter of 0.6-8.0 mm. According to the characteristics of metal wires, such as high strength, small diameter and small elongation percentage after fracture, 100 kN tensile testing machine was adopted. The results show that:the tension fixture for metal wires fitted well with the 100 kN tensile testing machine; the tension test parameters of metal wires were set up individually according to GB/T 228.1-2010, and the accurate detection for the tensile property of metal wires was realized.
