Abstract
Considering the existing problems that easily lead to divergence or are not clearly defined in standards for welding joints performance test and welding procedure qualification, such as the rationality of yield strength and percentage elongation after fracture obtained from the joint transversal tensile test, the effect of parallel section length of tensile specimens on the test results, whether the weld reinforcement being removed for the tensile/bending specimens, the definition of notch position of impact specimens for heat affected zone (HAZ) and so on, the differences among the relevant standards were described according to own work experience and a large number of literature reviews, and the reasons that caused the different results were analyzed and discussed in theory. In view of the present situation of different standards on the same test items easily leading to significant differences in test results, it is recommended as soon as possible to discuss the possibility and feasibility of reunification of relevant standards.
