Research and Development Status of Preparation Processes of WC Particle Reinforced Metal Matrix Composite Coatings

Abstract
The research situations of the preparation processes of WC particle reinforced metal matrix composite coatings at home and abroad were reviewed, such as vacuum cladding, laser cladding, thermal spraying and so on. The characteristics of different processes and product performances were described mainly, and the developing tendency in the future was also prospected. The analysis presents that WC particle reinforced metal matrix composite coatings could improve the surface hardness and enhance the wear resistance and corrosion resistance. The effects of various processes on the final products were different. Compared with laser cladding method and thermal spraying method, vacuum cladding method had great advantages on the aspects of bonding strength, coating uniformity, etc. Finally, it was pointed out that the improvement in traditional techniques such as laser cladding and thermal spraying was also an attractive topic.
