Abstract
In order to take full advantage of thin slab casting and rolling units, a furnace of IF steel was tried to produce by ferritic rolling technology. The microstructure and mechanical properties of the test steel final products were compared with those of the conventional rolling final products. The results show that the overall performance of the IF steel final products produced by ferritic rolling technology was superior to that of the conventional rolling final products, and especially the plastic strain ratio r value (mean value) which was an important index to reflect the deep drawing properties, was 0.2 higher than that of the conventional rolling final products. However, there was typical hot rolling scale defect on the surface of the test steel final products because of poor descaling. The surface scale defect problem was a disadvantage of the test steel final products compared with the conventional rolling final products, and it was also a major problem restricting its mass production.
