Abstract
Ion nitriding process test was conducted to 24Cr2Ni4MoV steel in order to improve the surface hardness and wear resistance of 24Cr2Ni4MoV steel parts. The microstructure, nitriding depth, surface hardness and brittleness and vein structure of the samples which were nitrided at three different temperatures as 520 ℃, 550 ℃ and 570 ℃ were analyzed by optical microscope and scanning electron microscope, and the compositions of the nitride were analyzed by the energy dispersive spectroscopy. The results show that 24Cr2Ni4MoV steel has a good effect on the ion nitriding and the best ion nitriding temperature was 550 ℃. After nitriding at 550 ℃, not only the properties of the nitriding layer could meet the technical requirements, but also it could increase the nitriding rate and shorten the nitriding time.
