Abstract
In order to study the influence of solid solution carbon atom contents on Snoek internal friction peak, tests of internal friction were carried out on interstitial free steels with different contents of solid solution carbon atoms obtained by different heat treatment, and the internal friction curves were compared and analyzed. The results show that the Snoek internal friction peak appeared on every sample after heat treatment. The internal friction peak increased with the increase of contents of solid solution carbon atoms while the temperature of the peak remained at about 325 K.
