    Causes Analysis on Cracks of Continuous Casting Round Billet of 37Mn5 Steel

    • Combined with the actual operation process,the causes of longitudinal cracks on the billet surface of 37Mn5 steel were analyzed by optical microscope and scanning electron microscope (SEM).The results show that the primary reason for the longitudinal cracks on billet was the improper operation of rapid cooling on cooling bed after continuous casting,and the higher overheating temperature and casting speed accelerated the formation and expansion of the cracks.
