Abstract: Some methods of retained austenite measurement on high chromium cast iron were compared. The X-ray diffraction and magnetic permeability methods have their limits and suitable scope. For the structure of perfered orientation,the volume of retained austenite could be measured correctly by rotating and tilting specimen holder.
