Abstract: The defect in aluminum alloy forgings was found during the processing in quality inspection. Examinations and analysis were performed by means of microstructure inspection,mechanical property measurement,chemical composition analysis,SEM,EDAX,phased array ultrasonic inspection and so on. The results showed that the defect in forgings was produced during cutting. Residual stress was the main reason of cracking.
