Abstract: A basic overview of abrasive wet cutting during metallographic sample preparation was presented. It gave a detailed guide on how to select wet cutting wheels according to the abrasive, grade, bond material, and made an introduction to its construction. It also introduced how to take appropriate rotation speed, force and cooling fluid, besides the cutting effects and features between direct cutting, oscillating cutting and step cutting were analyzed.
