Abstract: 45 steel draw pole failed during application. A study was conducted for the fracture analysis by means of chemical analysis, metallographic examination, hardness testing and SEM. The results showed that the failure of draw pole was fatigue fracture. The draw pole with low grade of mechanical strength occured early fatigue fracture at action of alternation stress. In addition, the stress concentration caused by improper machining was also the reason of fracture.
