Abstract: Air valve spring used in motorcycle produced by a factory of Guangdong failured after the motorcycle drived for 1 500km. The fracture was analysed by using SEM、 metallography and ICP-AES. The results showed that the fracture was of typical fatigue fracture, and surface defects were the main factor resulting in the failure of the air valve spring.
