Abstract: Mechanical method is a category of measuring residual stress. In the category,hole-drilling method,ring-core method and dissecting method are commonly used. China and some other countries have formulated industry standard of measuring residual stress by using hole-drilling method and ring-core method. The basic knowledge and several points need to notice are introduced.
