Abstract: The fracture of ball stud of the truck’s tie rod happened immediately after use and the fracture reason was analyzed by physical and chemical test and simulated experiment. The results indicate that the immediate fracture cause was that there was a critical original crack on the neck area of the ball stud,and the original crack was caused during the bar stock’s cold-drawing process.
