Abstract: A failure analysis of a front exhaust pipe on a car was conducted by means of chemical composition of emission spectrometer,optical metallographic microscope,SEM and EDX examination. The result shows that the fracture of the front exhaust pipe was a kind of corrosion fatigue fracture which caused by the combination effect of high temperature and external media with Cl-.
