Abstract: A transverse crack was observed in middle part of water-feeding pump shaft during the turning process. The reason on the crack was analyzed by means of chemical composition analysis, metallographic examination and fracture analysis. The results showed that the transverse crack in water-feeding pump shaft was forging crack, which maybe caused by high forging temperature.
