Abstract: The investigation was given on swelled tool joint and jump out accident. Based on vision morphology analysis and dimension measure,and material tests,and failure analysis for swelled tool joint,it was found that the tool joint material was in accordance with the standard,and the failure cause of the tool joint was due to high service torque over the material yield strength during drilling.
