Abstract: The fracture reason of roof bolts was analyzed by means of chemical composition analysis, hardness testing, tensile testing at ambient temperature, metallographic examination and so on. The results showed that the unqualified heat treatment for bolts was resulted in poor microstructure and reduced mechanical properties. At last the overload brittle fracture was founded in bolts during installation.
