Abstract: A natural gas bent pipe used in a gas station exploded suddenly. By means of macroscopic examination, chemical composition analysis, hardness testing, metallographic examination, SEM analysis and so on, the explosion reason was analyzed. the results showed that the internal surface of the pipe was scoured under high pressure by natural gas, the vertical splits and cracks formed by sulfide selectivity corrosion produced stress concentration reduced effective loaded area and caused pipe explosion at last.
