Abstract: Metallographic examination and analysis are conducted for the cracks of different kind of grey iron. The results are showed, there are existing some thermal crack which caused by cubical-expansion. The relation between the macro-caracter, distribution position and microstructure of the crack of expension casting cracks are discussed in this paper. Furthmore, the formation mechanism of expansion crack and solving method are proposed.
