Abstract: Several significant technical issues in former national standard GB 238-2002 “Metallic materials-Wire-Reverse bend” were analyzed. The necessity and feasibility to revise the individual clause were also demonstrated. The figure 1 “Typical shaped wire section” was added in new national standard, the range of the nominal diameter of wire in table 2 were modified. The parts of the clause about wire straightening, constraint force and criterion of ending the test were also modified. The opinions and suggestions were collected carefully by standards drafting units, on the basis of a large number of confirmatory test, standard revision work was finished. The new standard would be scientific, normative and maneuverable, to provide the better support for product development and production practice.
