Abstract: The reason of low impact energy of steel 45 bar was analyzed by means of mechanical property testing, chemical composition analysis, metallographic examination and surface quality analysis. The results showed that serious inclusions in material, improper heat treatment, rough surface were the main reasons due to the low impact energy of the bar.
