Abstract: The failure reason of exhaust valve of automobile engine was analyzed by means of macroscopic examination, chemical composition analysis, metallographic examination, energy spectrum analysis and so on. The results showed that the lack of solid solution treatment was the main failure reason, and the defects of poor contact etc were the secondary reasons. Thus the measures including solid solution and aging treatment and increasing leak tightness were proposed.
