Abstract: The nonmetallic inclusions existed in steels are unavoidable during steelmaking,which have significant influence on steel properties. Based on the origin and classification of the nonmetallic inclusions,the inspection methods and quantitative gradation standards were summarized for the nonmetallic inclusions in steels,and the formation mechanism and metallographic characteristics of different type of inclusions were analyzed. SEM pictures of some typical inclusions were also shown.
