Abstract: During the welding process of the valve, cracks appeared on the surface of the valve. The cause of the cracks was analyzed by means of macroscopic observation, chemical composition analysis, metallographic examination, scanning electron microscopy and energy spectrum analysis. The results show that the main cause of the cracks was the residual incomplete reaction of electroslag in the smelting process.
