Abstract: The thrust washer of a needle roller thrust bearing fractured. The fracture reason was studied by means of macroscopic observation, chemical composition analysis, scanning electron microscope analysis, hardness test and metallographic examination. The results show that sliding wear occured between the thrust washer and the cage, and the thrust washer broke under the action of high rotational axial stress.
