Abstract: The connecting rod bolt of a marine diesel engine fractured, and the fracture reasons were analyzed by means of macroscopic observation, chemical composition analysis, mechanical property test, metallographic examination, scanning electron microscope and energy spectrum analysis. The results show that the fracture of connecting rod bolt was fatigue fracture caused by old cracks, and the cracks were formed before acid pickling.
